Spring Tools for Eclipse is free, open source tooling for developing Spring-based enterprise applications, including Spring Framework and Spring Boot apps. Its tools have built-in knowledge of Spring, and Eclipse serves as a full-featured integrated development environment for them. Version 5.4.0 is available for macOS on both x86_64 and ARM_64 processors, as well as for Linux and Windows.

The tools help you get started by integrating the Spring Initializr and the Spring Guides, so you can go from nothing to a running Spring Boot app quickly. They also help you understand and navigate your Spring source code, making it easier to find Spring elements and move to them, and they provide smart code completion for the Spring elements in your app.

Spring Tools also connects your source code to running Spring Boot applications by using Spring Boot Actuators. This adds details from the running app to your editor, such as exact bean wiring information, conditional reports, and configuration details.
