About
StarNet2 is an AI-powered star removal tool for astrophotography, part of the StarNet Software suite alongside the DeepSNR noise reduction tool. The current PixInsight module, StarNet2 2.6.0, is available for Linux, Windows, Intel Mac, and Apple Silicon Mac through the module repositories, and the standalone command-line tool, StarNet2 2.6.2, is available for the same platforms. Version 2.6.0 adds a Restore clipped pixels option under Linear Data Options and remembers interface settings between sessions.
StarNet2 can be installed inside PixInsight by adding the StarNet repository and updating modules there, or used as a standalone command-line package for scripts, Siril integration, automation, or manual use. The website also lists Photoshop plugins (version 1.0.4) for layer-based processing. The command-line release improves linear FITS handling, output fidelity, processing diagnostics, intermediate 2× processing, and difference and unscreen star layers.
For usage guidance, the website points to command-line references, input guidance, and workflow notes, along with an FAQ for common installation, display, repository, and processing issues. Help and problem reports are directed to the StarNet v2 discussion and help request threads.
