About
Stempel is a native macOS app for creating new files in Finder. You manage a set of templates, either editing them directly in Stempel's simple built-in editor or opening them in an external editor such as Sublime Text or Nova. New files are created by right-clicking in Finder or by adding an item to Finder's toolbar. Folders can also serve as templates, so complex multi-file projects, such as a website with HTML, PHP, and JavaScript files, can be instantiated in one step.
Stempel supports plain text editing directly, while other file types receive an inline preview and can be edited with an external app. Right-clicking a template or using the File menu lets you open it in your preferred editor or reveal it in Finder. For templates that need special handling, Stempel provides a graphical POSIX permissions editor, presented as a table similar to ls output, where each file's read, write, and execute permissions can be set for user, group, and world. This is useful for executable scripts such as Python files, and presets offer quick configurations for text and script files.
