About
Subs Factory is a subtitle editor for macOS designed to make creating, modifying, and resynchronizing subtitles more efficient. It is built primarily for .srt files and can also work with some other formats. Users can create, delete, and modify subtitles, including text, duration, timing, size, and color, and changes can be viewed immediately on the video. Resynchronization is simplified by choosing two reference subtitles, and a timeline shows subtitles, audio waveforms, and shot changes, letting you edit directly on it.
The app also offers subtitle-standards compliance checking as you work, split and merge tools, advanced search and replace, text encoding management, and the ability to open several subtitle files side by side. Files can be opened and exported as .srt, .sub, .txt, or .tsv, and custom export formats can be created. Keyboard-driven workflows are supported through customizable shortcuts, and the app includes dark mode, Touch Bar support, and Quick Look previews in the Finder. Automatic transcription and translation are available as in-app purchases with a free trial.
Subs Factory requires macOS 12.4 (Monterey) or later for the current version 2.12.1, with older versions supporting earlier macOS releases. It is available in English, French, and Spanish, and includes a user's manual.
