About
Subsurface is an open source dive log program for recreational, tech, and free divers that runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux. You can log dives by downloading them from your dive computer, importing them from other dive log programs or websites, or entering them manually in Subsurface or through a simple spreadsheet. The built-in dive planner lets you visually plan dives based on Bühlmann ZH-16 or VPM-B. Subsurface can plan and track single- and multi-tank dives using air, Nitrox, or TriMix, and it records details such as GPS coordinates, equipment, dive buddies, ratings, tags, and notes. You can group dives into trips, edit multiple dives at once, and filter your dive list by tags, locations, or people.
Subsurface calculates a range of statistics about your diving, including SAC rate, partial pressures of O2, N2, and He, and calculated deco information. It supports a wide range of dive computers and can import logs from sources such as MacDive, Suunto DM3, DM4, and DM5, JDiveLog, and divelogs.de. Its depth profile visualizations, including tank pressure curves when available, show relative velocity and momentary air consumption. If you use multiple dive computers, you can combine their data into one dive. Multiple divers can share one instance of the program, each with their own preferences and settings.
Subsurface is localized in about 20 languages and is supported by an active developer community. It can also print a detailed logbook that includes dive profiles and other key information. Optionally, you can store your logbook in the cloud and work with your data across devices, online and offline. Subsurface-mobile, for Android and iOS, lets you access your dive log anywhere. The software is licensed under GPLv2.
