About
Subtitle Studio generates subtitles for your videos entirely on your own computer, with no uploads and no cloud processing. Transcription uses on-device Whisper models and supports 98+ languages, with 95%+ accuracy typically reported for clear audio. Before transcription, the app preprocesses audio, runs voice activity detection to isolate speech, strips background noise, and aligns the transcript to the audio timing. On Mac, it is tuned for the Apple Silicon Neural Engine.
You can translate subtitles and create dual subtitles, then export clean SRT files for editors such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro users can import subtitles as native FCP titles. You can also burn subtitles into video as MP4 files and convert videos in bulk. Translation uses an LLM that you run locally with Ollama or connect through a public API such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
The app is free to download, and you can use its transcription and editing features at no cost. Exporting, including SRT, burn-in video, and translation, requires a Lifetime License priced at $69 USD one-time. The license covers one device, includes lifetime software updates, and requires no account. The app collects no data and has no telemetry. It runs on Mac with Apple Silicon (macOS 12.0+) and on 64-bit Windows 10/11.
