About
Superhound is a Spotlight-style search app for Mac that aims to find things faster than Spotlight and to be leaner than Raycast, with no subscription. It opens from the hound in the menu bar, and results appear as you type, even across 100,000 files. It forgives typos, so a misspelled app name still finds the app, and your usual pick comes first. It also remembers what you copied: press ⌥⌘V to find and paste something you copied earlier.
Beyond finding files and apps, Superhound includes a calculator, emoji search, system commands such as emptying the Trash, web search, colour conversion, unit conversion, and familiar names such as "notepad" for TextEdit. Your data stays on your Mac, and the app is open source.
Superhound is free, with every feature. A $10 Supporter License supports development, and a single license can be used on up to 3 Macs. It requires Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later. You install it by running a single command in Terminal, which the website says does not ask for your password.
