About
Superkey is a Mac app for keyboard enhancement. Its Seek feature lets you match the text you type and click it, all from the keyboard and anywhere on the screen, so you can navigate your screen without a mouse or trackpad. Seek uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to find text, which can miss small text or text close to lines. It can also read accessibility information from apps that expose their interface elements, if you enable that option in the preferences window.
Superkey also includes a Hyperkey feature that converts your Caps Lock key or any modifier key into the hyper key, which combines all four modifiers (⌃⌥⌘⇧). The hyper key works as an extra modifier in other apps that have keyboard shortcuts. For power users, a set of checkboxes offers ways to maximize keyboard efficiency, and the developer invites requests for additional remapping checkboxes.
Superkey needs Accessibility permission to detect configured keystrokes and perform clicks, and Screen Recording permission for Seek, which takes a screenshot to find text on screen. According to the website, Superkey does not store the data it processes on your disk, does not use telemetry or tracking, and contacts the network only for license validation or updates as configured. Key remappings do not work in macOS secure password fields. The app is available as a free 20-day download, with a purchase option after that.
