About
Switchover is a menu bar app for Mac that brings back Windows keyboard habits and shortcuts for people who have switched from Windows. It handles cutting and pasting files in Finder: you select files, press ⌘X, open the destination, and press ⌘V, and Finder moves them only when you paste. It also provides clipboard history on ⌘⇧V, which stores text, images and files right where you're typing, with options to pin items, filter by app, search text inside screenshots, and queue a Paste Stack for forms.
The app restores Windows shortcuts you may miss, including Home and End, ⌃⌥⌫ for Activity Monitor with a Task Manager-style glance in the menu bar, ⌃⌥↑ and ⌃⌥↓ to fill the screen and restore it, ⌥F4 and ⌃W to close, Show Desktop, Lock, Finder and Mission Control on ⌃⌥D, L, E and Tab, and Win+Shift+S-style snipping. Every shortcut can be changed. Switchover is free on the Mac App Store, requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and is private by design: it has no network access, no accounts, and collects nothing, and your clipboard history stays on your Mac.
What's new
All release notesA small maintenance update. • Added "Rate Switchover…" to the menu bar menu, for anyone who has found it useful. • Housekeeping under the hood. No shortcut behaves differently. As always: every feature has its own switch, the app has no network access, and nothing is collected.
