Tableau Reader is a free desktop application that lets you open and interact with data visualizations built in Tableau and shared locally. It is available for both Windows and Mac, and the user interface supports English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

With Tableau Reader, you can interact with visualizations and dashboards, download snapshots of a visualization or dashboard as .pdf or .png files, and download summary data, which is only the aggregate data used by the visualization or dashboard. It works with local files only.

Tableau Reader is the reader-level option in Tableau's lineup. Its capabilities are more limited than those of Tableau Creator, Explorer, or Viewer: it does not let you create and share custom views, comment on dashboards, create subscriptions or data-driven alerts, or download full underlying datasets.
