About
Tabularis is an open-source SQL workspace for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and 26 other databases. The site describes it as a native Postgres GUI for macOS, with a Monaco-based SQL editor. Its built-in MCP server lets AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and Devin read your schema and run queries.
The app is designed as a full workspace, not just a connection tool. It includes SQL notebooks that combine SQL and Markdown, a visual query builder that shows the SQL it generates, and visual EXPLAIN, which turns execution plans into interactive graphs. You also get ER diagrams and split view. An AI assistant can draft SQL from plain English and explain unfamiliar queries, using OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or Ollama as your provider.
Tabularis is local-first. It supports SSH and Kubernetes tunneling and stores secrets in the system keychain, and the site states that your data and credentials never leave your machine. Additional databases such as DuckDB and Redis can be added through plugins, and each driver is a standalone plugin that can be installed without restarting the app.
