About
TagSpaces is a free, open-source workspace for macOS, available with no account needed. It runs entirely on your device, with no cloud dependency, no data collection, and no tracking. You can add color-coded tags to files and folders. Because there is no database, tags are stored right beside your documents and stay with your files across devices and platforms.
You can write notes in Markdown, HTML, or plain text, and each note is a standard file you fully control. You can also preview more than 50 file formats directly in the app, including images, PDFs, audio, video, spreadsheets, and source code. The Web Clipper browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge saves web pages, screenshots, and bookmarks as plain files.
TagSpaces works offline, so you can work without an internet connection. If you choose, you can sync files with services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or Syncthing while keeping control of your data. Your files stay in plain, readable formats, so they are not tied to any vendor.
