About
tev is a high dynamic range (HDR) image viewer for people who care about colors. It starts up instantly and can load hundreds of images in seconds. It understands HDR and color profiles, including ICC and CICP, and displays HDR content on all operating systems. On macOS, it can be installed from an .dmg installer or with Homebrew (brew install tev).
tev supports many file formats and their quirks, including gain maps, auxiliary channels, animation, and more metadata than just EXIF and XMP. Its pixel-peeping tools include histograms, tonemaps, and error metrics, which can be viewed in any color space. Images can be opened through a file dialog or by dragging them into the app. You can reload, close, or filter them at any time, compare a selected image against a reference image, and navigate with the Up/Down or 1-9 keys.
tev can also be used from the command line, where you can choose specific layers or channels to load, and it can be controlled remotely over the network through a TCP-based protocol. The project is licensed under GPL-3.0.
