About
Textream is a free, open-source teleprompter for Mac, built for streamers, interviewers, presenters, and podcasters. It highlights your script in real time as you speak and displays it in a Dynamic Island-style overlay. You can choose from three guidance modes: Word Tracking, which highlights each word as you say it; Classic, which auto-scrolls at a constant speed; and Voice-Activated, which scrolls while you speak and pauses when you're silent.
The overlay can appear as a Dynamic Island-shaped display pinned below the MacBook notch, as a draggable floating window that stays on top, or as a fullscreen teleprompter on any display. You can adjust the font family, font size, highlight color, scroll speed, and overlay size, and the floating window offers an adjustable glass effect. Paste your script, press play, and start speaking. When you finish, the overlay closes automatically.
Textream requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later and runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It can be downloaded from the App Store, as a .dmg from GitHub Releases, or installed with Homebrew.
