About
Textual is an easy-to-use IRC client for macOS that brings your favorite chatrooms and communities together in a familiar Mac interface. Its controls are carefully refined, and it offers light and dark appearances, each with matching chat styles.
Textual connects to modern IRC networks using IRCv3, IPv6, SASL, and client certificate authentication, and it supports ZNC and other bouncers. For privacy and security, you can configure SSL/TLS connections, certificate trust, and proxies, and OTR is available for supported private conversations depending on your setup.
You can personalize conversations with open-standard chat styles and extend Textual with scripts and addons written in AppleScript, Swift, Python, and other languages. Features include nickname and channel completion, rich text formatting, inline images and media, keyboard shortcuts, rule-based ignore lists, message filters, and speech synthesis. Textual is available for free for 30 days and requires macOS 12 Monterey or later.
