About
TheDesk is a Mastodon and Misskey client for macOS (Misskey support is partial). It is a modified version of Fedistar and offers a UI similar to TheDesk v24, a floating post box, and timelines that can be arranged vertically or horizontally, with adjustable lengths. Columns and accounts can be color-coded. Settings include absolute or relative timestamps, icon animation on or off, automatic collapsing of long posts, and whether the post box stays open after posting. Mac-specific features include Spotify and Apple Music/iTunes Now Playing integration and timeline read-aloud. A media-only timeline is also available.
The Mac version supports Apple Silicon only. It is notarized, so no security settings need to change. Intel Mac users are directed to the App Store version. It can also be installed with Homebrew using `brew install --cask thedesk`.
TheDesk is not run for commercial purposes and has no paid features or ads. It is developed with support from donors through Patreon, Pixiv FANBOX, and Liberapay, and is licensed under GPL-3.0.
