About
TickerNotch is a Mac app that puts live stock and crypto tickers, weather readings and social counts beside the MacBook notch, with your own RSS news scrolling alongside. You can pin any of these slots to the menu bar as its own live item, and click it to see the detail behind the number. Tickers cover items such as BTC, ETH, SPX, NDX, oil, gas, NVDA, gold and VIX, badged Live or Delayed depending on the source. Weather slots show measures such as temperature, high and low, feels like, rain chance and UV or wind for any city, and social counters show live subscriber or follower counts from YouTube, GitHub, Twitch, Bluesky and Mastodon. The app also shows two rows of your own Mac's CPU load, memory, network download and upload, and a single search box covers symbols, cities and handles.
TickerNotch states that it is private by design: there are no accounts, market data is fetched by the app on your own Mac, and crash logs stay local. It sends one small daily usage report under a random install ID, and a single switch turns that off and deletes the ID. It requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and looks best on a MacBook with the hardware notch, with a simulated-notch mode in Settings for other setups. The app offers a 7-day full trial, after which the free version continues without a card, and Pro is available as a lifetime purchase or monthly subscription. It can be downloaded directly, from the Mac App Store, or via Homebrew, and the website notes that the App Store listing is not available in the EU.
