About
Trickster is a Mac app that keeps the files, folders, apps, and web links you just used one click away in your Mac's menu bar. Recent files appear at the top of the list, so you can find a file you saved or reopen a document you closed by mistake. Version 4 also tracks recent web documents and important links alongside your recent files. The Save to Trickster extension sends pages from Safari, Chrome, and Firefox, and Auto-track Documents can bring in the pages you work on automatically. You can also choose which folders Trickster watches, and your latest downloads are one click away.
You can drag files and links from Trickster anywhere, just as you would from Finder. The Favorites sidebar keeps the items you use most within reach, and built-in and custom filters gather a project's files and links together, each with an SF Symbol, emoji, or image icon. A global shortcut opens Trickster from anywhere, and you can search, open, and preview items with keyboard shortcuts. Trickster also works with Alfred, DEVONthink, and Hookmark, and you can automate it with AppleScript.
Trickster keeps your data on your Mac. Your files and links never leave your Mac, and there is no account to create. The browser extensions send links directly to Trickster rather than through a server. Version 4 features a redesigned window and settings with Liquid Glass and requires macOS Tahoe (26) or later. Older versions for earlier macOS releases are available on the download page.
