About
Trimmy is a macOS menu-bar app that watches the clipboard and turns copied multi-line shell snippets into a single pasteable command. It uses command cues and a configurable sensitivity setting to avoid rewriting ordinary prose and code. Sensitivity can be set separately for general apps and terminals, and specific apps or browser sites can be excluded from automatic trimming. Paste Original in the menu restores the untouched copy when needed.
Trimmy can also assign global shortcuts to Paste Trimmed and Paste Original. These manual paste actions require macOS Accessibility permission, which Trimmy requests when necessary. Automatic clipboard rewriting works without that permission. Optional features include reflowing hard-wrapped prose and Markdown during Auto-Trim, removing URL query parameters while keeping identity parameters, and removing box-drawing gutters from copied terminal output.
Trimmy runs on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later. It can be installed with Homebrew (brew install --cask steipete/tap/trimmy) or downloaded as a signed app from GitHub Releases, and it checks for updates through Sparkle after installation.
