About
Tungsten Edge is a Mac taskbar that shows every window and lets you switch between them precisely. Each window holds exactly one place on the bar, so clicking it always brings up that window, and windows stay put even as you switch or minimize. The app is open source under GPL-3.0, requires no Screen Recording permission, collects no usage data, and is signed and notarized by Apple. It supports macOS 12 and later, universal for Apple silicon and Intel.
Beyond window management, the taskbar includes features such as cross-screen dragging, an app drawer, a shelf for files, a Trash, unread badges from messaging apps, per-display taskbars, auto-hide, and adjustable height. It takes window management from Windows and nothing else, with no Start menu, system tray, or clock, and it follows the look of macOS. The taskbar needs Accessibility permission to read the window list and to switch and minimize windows.
The app is native Swift and designed to stay light: the site reports under 0.7% CPU when idle and around 100 MB of memory after hours of use. It is free during the beta, and from version 1.0 it will be a one-time $24 purchase with lifetime updates, with founding users who confirm their email before 1.0 receiving a free license.
