About
Typeface is a font manager for macOS that helps you pick the right type for your designs. Its minimal interface keeps the focus on your fonts, with a flexible grid and customizable previews for browsing your library. You can customize preview text, size, colors, and more, and the List view shows technical font metadata for cleaning up your library or finding a specific font version. Typeface also lets you inspect Unicode characters, OpenType features, and variable fonts, and it offers body text layout presets for seeing how a font looks in a book, magazine, or website article.
Organization is built around a flexible tagging system. You can nest, combine, invert, and filter tags, and export tags to a readable JSON file for backup. Imported folders stay up to date automatically, so newly downloaded fonts are added on refresh. Filters help you find a specific font, such as a bold serif or a slanted script, and a duplicate finder and the option to move fonts to Trash help you clean up your collection. The Multi Tagging panel lets you attach tags to multiple fonts at once.
Typeface also helps you use fonts in your work. You can drag and drop from Typeface into your design app to change a font, and Pairing Studio lets you explore font combinations without switching apps. Fonts can be activated with one click, either persistently, temporarily, or automatically when you open design documents. The Quick Collection lets you mark candidate fonts while you explore. Typeface requires macOS 12 or later, is available on the Mac App Store and Setapp, and has native support for Apple Silicon.
