About
Universal Media Server is a free DLNA, UPnP, and HTTP/S media server that streams your media to devices such as TVs, smartphones, gaming consoles, computers, and audio receivers. You can connect from any web browser on any device to browse your files on feature-rich pages, then play directly in the browser or send media to your devices. The program does not track any actions you take in it, and external requests are made over secure connections.
The server supports a wide range of media formats and devices. It can pass media through untouched when a device supports it, or transform it to suit your network, device, and language preferences. Metadata lookups through services such as TMDB, Discogs, and MusicBrainz display cover art and related information, and you can filter videos and music by attributes like actor, director, genre, and year. You can also add YouTube channels and manage online radio, podcasts, and RSS feeds.
Universal Media Server gives you instant access to your media, even while scanning finishes in the background. It can also access physical media directly through your disc drives and disc images. The program is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, through direct download or package managers such as Homebrew, Chocolatey, AppImage, and Docker.
