About
vAmiga emulates a Commodore Amiga 500, 1000, or 2000 on your Mac. Development began in January 2019, and it is open-source under the GNU General Public License. It is distributed through the releases page on GitHub, where bug reports are also welcomed.
To run the emulator, you need a Kickstart ROM. The original Amiga ROMs are the intellectual property of Cloanto, and a legal Kickstart license can be obtained by purchasing an Amiga Forever license. ROM image files can be added to vAmiga by drag and drop. For joystick use, you can either enable keyboard emulation or connect an external USB joystick. The emulator has been tested with the Speedlink Competition Pro SL-6602 and various game console controllers, and it also supports the RetroFun! USB adapter for original Commodore joysticks.
The project has spin-offs by other authors. vAmigaWeb is a WebAssembly port by Mithrendal that runs in browsers or on mobile devices as a progressive web app and can be embedded as a web player. Neoartcr, by Christian Corti, is another WebAssembly port, optimized for web browsers, that provides access to various Amiga games within the application.
