About
VectorCraft is a vector illustration app, currently in development, reimagined in pure Rust. It brings the pen, panels and shortcuts that working illustrators expect into a native app that keeps up with them. VectorCraft is free and open source, with builds for macOS (Universal, for Apple silicon and Intel Macs), Windows, Linux and the web.
It includes the workflow you know, such as pen, direct selection, shape booleans, snapping guides and an appearance panel. Its exact curve booleans avoid the "cannot perform operation" error, and unlimited undo is included. Live effects such as blends, envelope distort, gradient mesh, live radial, grid and mirror repeats, glows and drop shadows remain editable. Image tracing turns raster images into vector paths using 12 presets. Documents are saved as native JSON, and the app imports and exports SVG and PDF and outputs PNG, JPEG and WebP, with multi-size export for screens.
VectorCraft is also fast: 20,000 shapes render in about 27 ms at retina resolution, and the interface runs at 120 fps. Its MCP server exposes every menu item, tool, panel and dialog as a command, so an AI agent can draw vector art that you can then edit.
