Vellum

About

Vellum is a Mac app for formatting books. Import your manuscript and it builds your title page and table of contents, and you can add a copyright page or backmatter. Browse its Book Styles to find one that suits your book, and Vellum applies it to every chapter, including new ones. Preview shows how your ebook looks on a range of devices and how your print book will look, updating with every edit.

Vellum creates ebooks for Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, and more, with validated EPUB 3 and EPUB 2 files, image optimization and compression, ARCs for beta readers in EPUB and MOBI, and ACE-approved accessible output. You can also combine completed series into a box set. For print, choose from 24 trim sizes or large print, with automatic margins, page numbers, headers, and footers, plus paperback or hardcover, full-bleed pages and backgrounds, and professional-grade PDF/X-1a files.

When you generate your books, Vellum produces your ebooks and print edition together, and they stay in sync when you make changes. You can download Vellum for free and purchase it when you're ready to publish. It requires macOS 13 or newer and is only available for Mac.
