VOX

About

VOX is a music player for Mac with native Apple Silicon support, and it is also available on iOS. Its audio engine plays Hi-Res audio up to 24bit/192kHz, which the site says is four times the standard 44kHz sound resolution. Supported formats include FLAC, MP3, CUE, APE, and M4A, and the site also lists ALAC, DSD, and PCM. Playback can use 5.1 multichannel audio.

VOX also works with your existing music. It can play your iTunes and personal music library, and it includes a built-in radio feature with access to over 30,000 internet radio stations, organized by country and genre. You can search and browse SoundCloud from the app, and stream any YouTube link by copying and pasting it into VOX (CMD+U). For sound adjustment, VOX offers an equalizer with more than 30 presets plus a manual 10-band setting, along with BS2B for stereo processing. It can also stream music to SONOS speakers.

VOX Premium adds more control and features. Its preferences include gapless playback, overlapping mixing, HogMode, sample rate synchronization, and output channel setup. VOX Music Cloud, available to Premium subscribers, provides online storage for your music collection, syncs between Mac and iPhone, and keeps files in their original format without conversion.
