About
VSCodium provides free/libre binaries of Visual Studio Code without Microsoft branding, telemetry, or licensing. Its repository contains scripts that automatically build Microsoft's vscode repository into freely licensed binaries with a community-driven default configuration. According to the project, these builds are a "clean" build without Microsoft's customizations and are licensed under the MIT license.
On a Mac with Homebrew installed, VSCodium can be installed with `brew install --cask vscodium` for the stable release, or `brew install --cask vscodium@insiders` for insiders. Stable and insiders downloads are also available from the project's releases page.
The project states that it is not a fork. Instead, it is a repository of build scripts that clone Microsoft's vscode repository, run the build commands, and publish the resulting binaries to GitHub releases so users don't have to build from source themselves.
