About

VueScan is a scanning application for Windows, macOS, and Linux that replaces your scanner's own software. Its built-in drivers, reverse-engineered from over 8,000 scanners, let you keep using scanners that manufacturers no longer support or that won't run on modern operating systems, and it also works with newer scanners. It supports flatbed, document, and film/slide scanners, and runs on macOS on both Intel and Apple Silicon.

For film and slides, VueScan supports 35mm negatives, slides, Kodachrome, and medium and large format, with options such as Infrared Clean for dust and scratches, Restore Fading for faded colors, and 48-bit scanning. For photos, it can automatically detect, crop, and separate multiple photos on a flatbed, correct orientation, and restore faded colors. For documents, it offers deskewing, blank page removal, OCR for searchable text, multipage PDF creation, and image stitching for large documents.

VueScan also includes AI-powered features, including colorizing black-and-white images, automatic media type and orientation detection, AI super-resolution to double image resolution, and Touch Up for painting over dust and scratches. A free trial is available for download.
