About
What's Your Sign is a Mac utility that adds a "Code Signing Info" option to the menu that appears when you right- or control-click a file in Finder. It makes it easy to view a file's cryptographic signing information, which can identify its creator and help determine whether the file can be trusted. The app's window indicates the signing status with icons: a green lock for files signed by Apple, a black lock for other signed files (such as those from the Mac App Store or signed with an Apple Developer ID), and a red unlock for files that are unsigned or whose signing certificate has been revoked. The app can also compute MD5, SHA1, and SHA256 hashes for any item, display the CDHash if one exists, and show an item's entitlements.
What's Your Sign is installed with the included WhatsYourSign Installer.app, which also lets you choose whether to enable it for external or mounted drives, an option that is disabled by default. It requires macOS 10.15 or later. To check for a new version, launch WhatsYourSign.app from /Applications and click "Check for Update." The installer also provides an option to uninstall the tool completely.
