About
Windows 95 is an app that runs the full Windows 95 system inside an Electron app. On macOS, it is available as a standalone zip for both Apple Silicon and Intel processors. The project says it runs quite well on macOS, Windows, and Linux, though it is written entirely in JavaScript, so expectations should be adjusted accordingly.
Some games are preinstalled, and more can be found online, such as on archive.org. For DOS games, the developer recommends switching to a 640x480 resolution at 256 colors before starting them. The project credits the v86 project and its contributors for most of the underlying work.
The app is provided for educational purposes only. It is not affiliated with or approved by Microsoft.
