About
xemu is a free, open-source application that emulates the original Microsoft Xbox game console, enabling people to play their original Xbox games on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Its source code is available on GitHub, and the project is an independent effort that is not endorsed by or affiliated with Microsoft.
xemu emulates the original Xbox's hardware, which the project says provides superior compatibility with kernels, titles, and homebrew applications. Built on SDL3, it supports virtually all controllers and can connect up to 4 at once. Snapshots let you save and load the current machine state at any time, and render scaling lets you increase the resolution games render at, from 480p up to 1080p.
xemu supports networking with other xemu instances and real Xboxes, locally or over the Internet, including tunneling services and Xbox Live recreation projects. A Discord community offers help running xemu and setting up multiplayer matches. Title compatibility reports are submitted by volunteers and may need updating as the project evolves.
