About
XMLmind XML Editor is a strictly validating, near-WYSIWYG XML editor with extensive support for DITA 1.3 (including Lightweight DITA, XDITA, HDITA and MDITA), DocBook (including DocBook 5.1 assemblies) and XHTML5. It converts sets of HTML pages (an "ebook") to EPUB, PDF, Web-Help, DOCX and other formats. It also includes a built-in, near-WYSIWYG MathML editor and DOCX import, along with RTF, WML, DOCX and ODT export facilities.
The editor is highly customizable by end users or local experts and can be extended without programming, though it also provides an extensive, documented Java API. It is aimed at technical writers, engineers and scholars working on large, complex, modular documents rather than programmers. Three synchronized views (Tree, Styled and TOC) are available, all fully editable, along with Tag and Source views, a Compare tool and file browsing and search tools.
XMLmind XML Editor is also offered as a free Personal Edition, as the DITA Editor and DocBook special editions, and as a Web Edition that runs in the browser without installation.
