About
XScreenSaver is a free collection of screen savers by Jamie Zawinski and many others. It has been the standard screen saver collection on most Linux and Unix systems running the X11 Window System since its first release in 1992, and it celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2022.
On macOS, the screen savers work with the usual macOS screen saving framework, and X11 is not required. The website describes the collection as comprising hundreds of screen savers, with videos and descriptions of each available for viewing.
Executables are available for macOS, iOS, and Android, and source code is available for all platforms. The website also provides a list of recent changes, an FAQ for the X11 version, and guidance on reporting bugs.
