About
Yaak is a local-first API client for HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, and Server-Sent Events (SSE), available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It is built with Rust and Tauri and stores your workspaces on your machine. No account is required, and nothing syncs to a cloud service. Each request, folder, and environment is saved as one YAML file, so you can commit, branch, and diff requests with the built-in Git UI and share them through your team's existing Git workflow. Secrets can be encrypted with keys stored in the OS keychain.
Yaak sends API requests directly to your servers and collects no telemetry from the desktop app. Its source code is MIT-licensed on GitHub, so you can inspect and build it yourself. For AI agents, Yaak provides a CLI and an MCP server plugin that work with the same requests you see in the app, without a separate collection. Changes made through the CLI appear in the app.
Yaak can import Postman collections and environments, Insomnia exports, Bruno collections, OpenAPI and Swagger specs, and curl commands. It is free for personal use and requires a commercial license for work after a 30-day trial.
