Yubico Authenticator is a companion app for the YubiKey on macOS, part of the Yubico Authenticator line for desktop and Android. It displays information about your YubiKey, such as serial number, firmware version, and supported capabilities. You can manage and access OATH one-time passwords stored securely on your YubiKey, configure PIN, fingerprints, and passkeys for WebAuthn/FIDO, and configure PIN/PUK/Management key and manage private keys and certificates for PIV. The app also lets you provision Yubico OTP, static passwords, and other slot-based credentials, configure enabled features, and factory reset YubiKey data. It works with any USB or NFC-enabled YubiKey.

Because your credentials are stored on a hardware-backed security key that you carry with you, you don't have to keep sensitive secrets on your phone, where accounts could be exposed to takeovers. The app requires no connectivity. On macOS, Yubico lists macOS 13 (Ventura) and above as supported, and macOS 10.15 (Catalina) as best-effort, meaning it is expected to work but full functionality cannot be guaranteed.
