About
M3U Edit is a native Mac app for building and exporting playlists for cars, phones, USB sticks and other media players. Its Playlist Check looks for problems that would stop a song from playing, such as missing songs, unsupported formats, duplicates and very long paths, and can fix most of them in one click. Export sets up the playlist, file names and folders for your chosen device, shows exactly what will be copied, and lets you update a USB stick by copying only new or changed songs.
The app also includes tools for converting many playlists at once, switching between formats and path styles, relinking songs that have moved, and previewing changes before saving. Smart rules can remove songs by length, artist, genre or file type, with an Undo option. It supports M3U, M3U8, PLS and XSPF, imports WPL and Music app playlists, and can convert songs to MP3 or AAC during export. M3U Edit requires macOS 14 or later, needs no account, does no tracking, and keeps your music on your Mac.
What's new
All release notes• Excel thumbnails sit inside their cells, fill them, and stay with their rows when you sort or filter in Excel. • Lists open in folder order: each folder, then its files, then its subfolders, as in version 3. The sort you choose by clicking a column header is remembered. • The Export button in the toolbar opens the export window. Its arrow still exports in one step.
New in 2.0.3: • Edit > Copy Track List (⌥⌘C) copies the songs as numbered lines, ready to paste in a message or a note. • Remove Missing Tracks now tells you how many songs it removed. Fixes: • Songs tagged by older versions of iTunes now show their title, artist and cover. • Greek, Cyrillic and other non-Latin tags that an older tag editor saved in the wrong encoding no longer show as garbled letters.
