• Excel thumbnails sit inside their cells, fill them, and stay with their rows when you sort or filter in Excel.
• Lists open in folder order: each folder, then its files, then its subfolders, as in version 3. The sort you choose by clicking a column header is remembered.
• The Export button in the toolbar opens the export window. Its arrow still exports in one step.
2.0.3
New in 2.0.3:
• Edit > Copy Track List (⌥⌘C) copies the songs as numbered lines, ready to paste in a message or a note.
• Remove Missing Tracks now tells you how many songs it removed.
Fixes:
• Songs tagged by older versions of iTunes now show their title, artist and cover.
• Greek, Cyrillic and other non-Latin tags that an older tag editor saved in the wrong encoding no longer show as garbled letters.

4.2
NEW: SONG INSPECTOR
See the details of the selected song beside the song list, play it, or reveal it in the Finder. Open it from the toolbar or View > Inspector.
A REFRESHED WINDOW
A simpler toolbar, album and podcast covers in the sidebars, and new sorting: playlists by name or number of songs, albums by name or artist, podcasts by name or latest episode.
MISSING FILES, EXPLAINED
Songs whose file is missing are shown in red before you export, with the reason: in the Trash, on a drive that isn't connected, or moved.
FIXES
• AAC (.m4a) songs exported with "Always embed artwork to MP3/AAC files" on could lose their title, gapless playback and Sound Check information. To repair them, export again into a new folder, or with "If file exists" set to Overwrite in Advanced
• With "Limit album artwork size" on, a song could get another song's cover
• Playlist (m3u) files no longer list songs that failed to export
• Your custom file name format is no longer cleared when you repeat an export or load a profile
• Songs with no track number, artist or album no longer get "000" or "unknown" in their file names. Their folders are now "Unknown Artist" and "Unknown Album", so with "Sync changes only" these songs are copied once more
Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later.
3.1
ReceiptBox is now free, with ReceiptBox Pro as a one-time purchase. If you already bought it, Pro is included. Also new: iCloud sync, and the app in Spanish.
• ReceiptBox is free: unlimited receipts, automatic reading, search, CSV export and backups
• ReceiptBox Pro, paid once with no subscription, adds Insights and the tax summary, Recurring Bills, more books, Excel and PDF exports, rules, tags, warranties, reimbursements and iCloud sync
• Bought ReceiptBox or ReceiptBox 2 before? Pro is included at no cost
• Optional iCloud sync: one library on all your Macs, kept in your private iCloud database. Turn it on in Settings > General
• The whole app in Spanish, including Help
• Reads Spanish and French receipts: IVA, IGIC, TVA, tax base, "Importe total" and tips
• A new Spain region: euros, day-first dates and decimal commas
• New libraries take their region from your Mac
• A plain "$" on a receipt keeps your library's dollar (NZD, AUD, CAD…) instead of switching to US dollars
• Fixes a crash when tiling the window to half of the screen
2.0.2
This update fixes volume control on Marantz network players such as the M-CR603:
• Volume changes in the same steps as your player again, instead of jumping to the maximum.
• Only the zones your player actually has are shown.
Thanks to everyone who reported it!
3.3
Text Workflow 3.3: keep the words that matter, plus seven new actions.
• Marked text: select words in Input and press Shift-Command-M, or right-click and choose Mark Selected Text. With Keep marked text, the workflow changes everything except the marked words. With Change only marked text, it changes only them. Mark several pieces at once with Command-drag.
• Show Invisible Characters: see the hidden characters in pasted text, like no-break spaces and zero-width spaces, as tags such as [NBSP] and [ZWSP], with a list of what was found.
• Compare Lists: see what is only in one list, only in the other, or in both.
• Convert Units: km and miles, kg and pounds, °C and °F, cups and spoons, areas and data sizes, right in your text.
• URL Parser: split a link into its parts, with one line per query parameter.
• For developers: Number Base Converter (decimal, hex, binary, octal), Generate Hash (MD5 and SHA) and Generate Password.
• Convert Case adds snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE, dot.case and URL Slug.
• Encoder and Decoder adds backslash escapes, for JSON strings and code.
• Extract Text finds numbers, IP addresses, hashtags, mentions and colors, and can sort the results.
• Cleaner options: in every action's options, labels, fields and checkboxes line up, with room for every language.
1.2.1
Uses less CPU in the background.
1.3
ScreenAlert 1.3 makes setting up an alert faster and clearer.
NEW
• Select the area first. The alert panel opens right beside it, with a live preview of what ScreenAlert reads.
• Move or resize the frame before you press Start. Nothing is saved until you do.
• See whether your condition is met right now, for example "4,184.01, not met", before you start.
• Click an alert's name on screen to pause, edit or stop it. Paused alerts dim until you resume them.
• Pause and resume alerts from the menu bar too.
• A new welcome guide walks you through permissions and settings.
• A cleaner, more modern alert panel.
FIXES
• "Text changes" alerts now fire on values that change at every check, such as live prices. Number alerts now fire on moving values too.
• An alert's name label no longer floats above other apps.
• The frame around an alert comes back as soon as you return to its window.
• Choosing a new area on a different window now follows that window.
Thanks for using ScreenAlert. Reviews help a lot.
1.2.2
• New notes now open in the editor, ready to type, instead of the split view. Notes you already have keep your chosen layout.
• Lower CPU and battery use, especially with many notes open. Markary now stays quiet while you are not scrolling or clicking in the preview.
1.4
A NEW, CLEARER WINDOW
• All merge options now live in a panel on the right, grouped and always visible. Show or hide it with Option-Command-I
• Plain and AI Prompt format are now side by side at the top of the panel, with a short description of each
• Copy and Save moved to the toolbar, so the preview gets the full height of the window
FILE NAME HEADERS, ONE CLICK AWAY
• New Headers option: put the file's name on its own line before each file. Choose from === name ===, --- name ---, ## name or // name
• No more setting up a custom separator just to see which file is which
MORE FILES RECOGNISED
• Dropping a folder now picks up text files without a familiar extension, such as Dockerfile, Makefile, LICENSE, .vue and .tf files
• Add Files can now choose them too
• Images, archives and other binary files are still left out
FIXES
• "End Each File with Newline" no longer adds an extra blank line to files saved with Windows line endings
• The divider in the preview now sits on the first line of each file, not on the blank line above it
2.1
SEND FILES STRAIGHT FROM FINDER
Control-click files and choose Services → Rename with Mass Rename, use Open With, or drop them onto the Dock icon. Don't see the Services entry? Turn it on in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Services.
NUMBER RAW + JPEG PAIRS TOGETHER
Turn on "Same number for files with the same name" in a Sequence action, and IMG_0001.jpg and IMG_0001.dng get the same number.
RENAME IN SEVERAL ROUNDS
Keep Files in List runs another renamer on the same files, just like the original Mass Rename. Undo Rename steps back one round at a time.
TYPE A NAME YOURSELF
Double-click a new name, or right-click and choose Edit New Name…, to set one file's name exactly.
SORT BY DATE TAKEN
Put photos in shooting order. "Photo taken" in the Date action now always reads the photo's own date.
FILTER BY KIND AND EXTENSION
Show only images, or just .jpg files. Rename applies to the files shown.
FASTER AND MORE RELIABLE
Fields in actions take typing on the first click, big folders load much faster, and dragging actions and sidebar items works every time.
Thanks for using Mass Rename! Questions or ideas? Reach out from the Help menu.
2.0
Folder Organizer has been rebuilt from the ground up — faster, fully native, and
a lot more careful with your files.
PREVIEW BEFORE ANYTHING MOVES
Every run now starts as a plan: every file, and exactly where it's going.
Uncheck what you'd rather skip, remove files from the list, or send one
somewhere else. Nothing happens on disk until you press the button.
UNDO
Every run is recorded and reversible — including automatic ones, and including
after you quit and reopen the app.
SORTING BY WHAT'S INSIDE YOUR FILES
A new Smart option reads your PDFs and scans and files them by what they are:
invoices, receipts, contracts, bank statements, tax documents, screenshots,
photos and more. If it gets one wrong, correct it before you apply. Files are
read on your Mac and never leave it.
WATCH FOLDERS
Point a rule at Downloads and new files get sorted as they arrive — either
automatically, or only after you approve them in a small alert that appears in
the corner of the screen.
RENAME WHILE YOU SORT
Build new names from the original name, a date, a counter, the parent folder or
the file type, with a live example as you type.
MORE WAYS TO GROUP
Dates by year, quarter, month, week or day in several formats. Nested grouping,
such as by kind and then by year. Plus extension, Finder tag, first letter and
size.
SET IT UP BY TYPING WHAT YOU WANT
Type something like "sort invoices and receipts into their own folders" and the
app builds the setup for you to check first.
ALSO NEW
Saved setups you can reuse, a run history window, Quick Look with the Space bar,
drag and drop onto the window, Shortcuts actions, and an option to run quietly
from the menu bar with no Dock icon.
TWO THINGS TO KNOW
This version needs macOS 14 or later.
The file list table and its Excel/CSV export are no longer part of the app.
Thanks for using Folder Organizer. If something doesn't work the way you expect,
get in touch — I read every message.
1.0
No notes for this version.
1.1.4
Updated for macOS Sonoma
1.2
Add option to create custom shortcuts to control (on/off) lights.
User can now set shortcuts on any light to turn it On or Off with the keyboard.
