About
SideNotes is a Mac app for capturing notes, tasks, links, and snippets from the edge of your screen without leaving the app you're in. It stays on top of other apps, including in full screen, regular windows, and Stage Manager. You can show or hide it with a keyboard shortcut, the Open Bar, or by moving your mouse to the screen edge (Hot Side mode).
To keep notes organized, you can create folders, move notes between them with Command-Shift-M, and tell notes apart with colors, either as full-background colors or a small bar on the left. You can also add images, create shortcuts to files and folders, enter colors in #rrggbb format, and manage tasks. Notes can be formatted with Markdown without showing the markup, and version 1.6 adds pinning for notes and folders, folding for long notes, and a quick formatting toolbar.
SideNotes syncs across your devices with iCloud and includes automatic backups. It offers themes and customization, and it integrates with Apple Shortcuts, an AppleScript API, and a URL-based API, with support from apps such as Alfred, Hookmark, PopClip, Dropzone, and Raycast. It requires macOS 13 or later and is sold as a one-time purchase per major version with no subscription, for $19.99. SideNotes Mobile for iPhone and iPad is sold separately.
