Things Helper is a small Mac application required to use the Quick Entry with Autofill feature in Things 3. To install it, download Things Helper from the Things website and launch it by double-clicking. The Helper automatically switches you back to Things and enables Quick Entry with Autofill. Once that's done, you can delete the Helper from your Downloads folder.
The Helper is necessary because macOS sandboxing prevents Things from communicating directly with other apps. When you use Quick Entry with Autofill to retrieve information such as links, Things uses the Helper, which runs outside the sandbox, as an intermediary.
