About
Time Out is a Mac app that gently reminds you to step away from your computer, stretch, rest your eyes, or take a breath during long stretches of focused work. Breaks can be built into your day without relying on you to watch the clock. You can start with the built-in Normal and Micro breaks or shape a routine around how you work. Adjust break lengths and frequency, add your own breaks for lunch or stretching, schedule breaks at fixed times or around calendar events, and limit them to particular hours and days. Time Out can also count time away from your Mac as a natural break.
Rules let Time Out postpone or skip breaks when particular apps are in use, when a calendar event is happening, or when your Mac is in Focus or a fullscreen app. Meeting scripts can recognize active calls in apps such as FaceTime, Teams, and Zoom. Breaks can be customized with themes, including images, text, YouTube videos, websites, or your own photos, and you can set different themes for each display. Floating break controls show your progress and let you postpone, skip, or end a break early, and you can limit postponing and skipping if you tend to dismiss reminders. Optional activity tracking and a Statistics view help you review your break habits over time. The core features are free, with optional supporter and premium features available.
